Duong Lam ancient village, national heritage site, is located in Son Tay Town, Hanoi, Vietnam.

This place not only has unique historical, cultural and natural characteristics but it is also the birthplace of two of Vietnam’s Kings, Ngo Quyen (896-944) and Phung Hung (761-802). In 2005, Duong Lam was recognized as the first ancient village in Vietnam and awarded National Historic and Cultural Relics Certification. On 18th February, 2013, it has been received Award of Merit in the 2013 UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation.

Duong Lam ancient village has existed for approximately 1,200 years with a great number of houses built 400 years ago (in 1649, 1703, 1850 etc). Most of the buildings here are made of laterite and mud, which make Duong Lam village unique and historical. Laterite is red clay formed from weathered basalt in the north of Vietnam, which remained only at Duong Lam ancient village. Therefore, this village is a famous place for researchers and architects. Besides, Duong Lam ancient village is an interesting and fascinating place to study resident communities in ancient agriculture. The banyan, village gate, communal house, courtyard, well and the roads with the shape as the bones of fish make Duong Lam ancient village become unique and memorable.

Duong Lam has 21 tangible culture relics, including temples, pagodas and tombs. In addition, Duong Lam has retained a rich variety of intangible cultural relics like  festivals, traditional clothes, cuisine culture and the scene of the real Vietnamese countryside, etc.
