Duong Lam ancient village was the first village in the rural area of Vietnam recognised as a national cultural heritage.
This village is well-known for being the birthplace of two national kings. Besides, it has preserved a treasure of tangible cultural relics like ancient houses, communal houses, temples and pagodas as well as a lot of intangible cultural relics such as festivals and traditional clothes, cuisine culture etc. Duong Lam ancient village also has a diversity of ecological environment with peaceful, beautiful scenery.

On 18th Feb, 2014, UNESCO Asia Pacific Heritage Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation, which acknowledges the efforts in heritage restoration and preservation, presented UNESCO award of Merit to Duong Lam ancient village.
Specifically, some old buildings have received awards such as Mong Phu Gate, Giang Van Minh worship-house, On pagoda, , Ha Van Vinh old house and Nguyen Van Hung old house.

Ms. Katherine, Head of the UNESCO office in Ha Noi, said that conservation of five buildings has cultural and historical value and creates uniqueness and tradition for Duong Lam ancient village.
