Duong Lam ancient village is the first ancient village in Vietnam to be regarded as a national relic. It also won the UNESCO Conservation Heritage in 2013 after the recognition of Hanoi Old Quarter and Hoi An.

We decided to have a half day tour and they were very happy to accommodate us. They do tailored tours so you can ask anything. Our guide also has grown up in Duong Lam which helps a lot when going around. We started in the streets, tasting and buying some fruits and local produce. We sat down for some tea and more things to taste. We visited an old temple, we then went for a walk throughout the village and stopped by the kindergarten for our little boy to meet the children there, this was the highlight of his day. We then went on for a bike ride in the fields and came back for lunch in an ancient home. The food was amazing and plentiful and the atmosphere was fantastic. Our guide was really great to talk to and she took lots of pictures for us.
The people in the village were all so very friendly as well, it was a fantastic experience that we really were lucky to have.
“Duong Lam - a humble village that has so much to see”
We found DuongLam ecotourism on the internet after deciding to escape Hanoi but not do the typical Mai Chau visit many tourists do. We were so surprised on how much Duong Lam has to offer: An unbelievable historical significance, one the most beautiful and ancient pagodas I have seen (and I have seen a lot), and the most picturesque scenery and feeling of a small rice field village.
Our Tour Guide Julie was fantastic and took us down the back streets, impossible to find unless you know the village. Taking a bicycle through the streets and out onto the rice paddies was one of the most memorable experience i've had in Vietnam.
Booking this tour, you have the unique opportunity to visit the local people and get a glimpse of their lives. We visited an candy maker to watch him make a fresh batch of keo lac and also at the end visited a farming couple and helped them plant and harvest. You usually do not get to get this close to the local people when booking tours.
We also had a fantastic lunch, real vietnamese food, all inclusive. For the price, it is more than worth it to escape Hanoi for the day for this perfect day tour.
Thank you Julie and wishing you all the best for your organization
We were blessed with our tour guide Mr.Hugo. Hugo went out of his way to ensure we saw what we wanted. We were only couple on tour so Hugo was able to customise itinerary to suit our interests. We saw and learnt more than we expected. Hugo's English was great. This was our last day in Hanoi and couldn't have ended better. We highly recommend this company and Hugo who we grew very fond of after our one day.
After reading the great reviews about Duonglam village on Tripadvisor, we decided to book our day trips to Duonglam Ancient village with Duonglam Ecotourism. We weren't disappointed at all as our tour guide, Ms.Julie herself was very helpful and provided all the information we needed to know and the price range options. The service we got on the trip were super and we thoroughly enjoyed our day.
My boyfriend and I were looking for an opportunity to escape the business of our lives in Hanoi with a day trip to the countryside. Our tourguide, Lorie took us on an super and memorable day tour of the ancient Duong Lam Village. We were picked up in the morning from our apartment and driven to the village about an hour or so from Hanoi. Lorie's enthusiasm is infectious an right from the start we enjoyed all the facts and knowledge he has on every corner of the village. We had lunch at one of the oldest houses in the village, hosted by the owners themselves. The food was amazing and they even catered us with vegetarian options. We then went on a bike ride through the country side visiting local temples. We had a lot of fun and recommend this day trip to anyone looking for an authentic rural and historical learning experience. We look forward to joining other Duonglam Ecotourism in the future.
This was a great experience. The agency (Duong Lam Ecotourism) hooked us up with Farming tour which was cheap and enjoyable. We did farming, cooking and cycled around this village to visit some beautiful 400 year-old ancient houses and Mia temple. The guide provided was funny and helpful :). Hugo himself was very kind and helpful. We exchanged money from him at almost international rates and he had funny anecdotes to share.
